Park Arkadia Tour - Aristocratic Garden

From € 40,00

Arcadia Park. Aqueduct.

Designer of garden in the English style and complex of buildings in the style of the Greek-Roman-Gothic was in the eighteenth century Helena Radziwiłł.

The lady of the Russian Tsarina Catherine II and her close friend. Helena spoke fluent in French, Italian, English, German and Italian - but she could not speak Polish.

She was one of the most beautiful and richest women of that time.

She had numerous romances - including first with the Russian Ambassador in Poland and then for a change with the English ambassador.

And, during those periods, with the Polish king Stanisław August.

All love affairs were tolerated by her husband because it brought him tangible material and political benefits.

She had 9 children (one was not accepted by her husband) with different types of beauty, but at that time - because of the free customs - was tactless to ask about the actual origin of the offspring.

Arcadia Park. Temple of Diana.

One of the most recognizable buildings in the park was a cabinet with a collection of antique sculptures from Greece and Rome and the Princess' bedroom.

Above the entrance placed Italian quotation from Petrarch:

"Here I have found peace after all of my fights,"

and inside the works of art that through her friendship with the Empress Catherine brought from the excavations on the Black Sea.

Went down in history a simple country breakfast which the princess prepared for her guests.

Living room turned into a spruce forest and the village were set outside the four straw huts in which was served meals from 4 trendiest restaurant then.

As claimed today party was unsuccessful:

"...because how many times someone picked up the radish or herring have to touch by his nose a bush of rose or hook a tree branch, and then the Princess sounded inhuman screams."

Arcadia Park. Shrine of High Priest.

The two-storey building with fragments transferred from the castle in nearby Lowicz and with tombs built into the walls from the church in Lowicz (200 details).

Over the roof towering turret with a dovecote, and on the east wall is a relief with the French inscription:

"Hope feeds Chimera, and life goes on."

The owner of the property could spend huge sums on the development of the park despite the morbid avarice of husband.

The only money they both spent - went to collections of works of art.
They have forgetting about the rest of mundane things. They did not pay for household.

They sued suppliers for every penny.

Even for own children they bequeathed in a dowry villages and other goods - long time belonging to someone else.
